Marika und Leopard
NOW
The exhibition "NOW" of Russian artists Maria Krasina and Anton Kryvula, working under the artistic pseudonym Marika and Leopard is dedicated to time - as an ontological, cultural and existential phenomenon. With the help of multimedia installation, the artists created an attraction in the gallery for perception and reflection on the topic of ontology of time and art.
The exposition consists of several paintings created earlier in Russia, the natural materials - trees and stones founded in the Hardtwald, two video installations and homemade musical instruments created from wood founded in the forest. For the placement of paintings in the exhibition space, artists used dry trees, painted with white paint as birches - the national symbol of Russia. Among other things, these artists raise the question: Are they a Russian artists, if they can not work in Russia?
The opening of the exhibition was accompanied by a musical performance at which the artists presented the results of their work with sound as an art object.
During the month during which the exposition takes place in Poly, the artists make a video film about the objects found on the streets of Karlsruhe and plan its show during the сlosing of the exhibition.
